Sashiko - Kaki-no-hana/Persimmon Flower - Ages 14+



Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing.

With local artist Elizabeth Hipps as your guide, you will learn about tools and usage for traditional sashiko, knotless techniques that allow double sided designs, the rhythm of sashiko stitching, stitching order for the Persimmon Flower pattern, and review finishing techniques.
You will have a jam packed two hours and leave with beautiful new skill!

This class is open 14+.

Supplies Needed:

  • All your supplies will be provided for this class including thimble, fabric, needle, and thread.

Class Policies & COVID procedures:

  • Masks are no longer required but always welcome! We are happy to provide a mask if needed. If you are feeling ill, please stay home and text the store to let them know. 

  • This class requires a minimum of 6 students enrolled, with a maximum of 10. Craft Habit will notify students at least 24 hours in advance if a class is canceled due to low enrollment. Students will be fully refunded for any classes canceled due to low enrollment.

  • Food and most beverages are not allowed during classes, due to safety concerns. You are welcome to bring water in a container that will not spill if knocked over. On occasion, BYOB is welcome and will be stated in the class registration page.

  • Class registrations are not refundable. If you cannot attend, you may find another person to take your place in a class. Please let us know their name in advance of the class starting.

  • Classes canceled by Craft Habit WILL be refunded. We will do our best to reschedule classes, and we will refund class registration fees for any classes that we have to cancel for any reason.

  • To respect our teachers’ time, please arrive 5 minutes before scheduled class time unless advised otherwise. Late arrivals may miss important information and may not be able to catch up to the class. We cannot issue refunds for late arrivals. Please shop for your class materials in advance!

  • Photography: We love to get pics and videos of our instructors and students in class and especially love to capture your projects when finished so that we can brag about you on our social media accounts! If you do not want to be filmed, just tell the staffer who pops in to take pics. We understand!
