Japanese Stab Binding

Fabric choices for Japanese Stab Binding classJapanese Stab Binding is a historical form of side stitch binding. In these methods, the bindings are secured through the front and back covers rather than along the spine. In this class you’ll learn about the materials used, cover your book boards with linen cotton canva,s and bind your own mini 5x8 inch journal.

We love to get pics and videos of our instructors and students mid-class when busy learning and especially love to capture your handiwork when finished so that we can brag abut you on our social media accounts. If you do not want to be filmed, just tell the staffer who pops in to take pics. We understand!

Instructor: Molly Coleman
Instructor Bio: Made with Magick, which is owned and operated by local artist Molly Coleman, believes that there is power in the words we write. We spend so much of our time with our own thoughts. Molly strives to create a beautiful place to hold those thoughts, fears, musings, and dreams in the hand sewn journals that she binds herself in her home studio in Apex NC. She has a background in book arts, paper making and printmaking from SCAD. Molly has called the Raleigh area home for the past 8 years and just recently celebrated her one year anniversary of Made with Magick. She hopes that others will get excited about learning the traditional bookbinding techniques that she loves dearly
