Youth Sewing: Quilt Top

In this class, students who have made at least 2 quilt blocks in After School Sewing Club will learn to put their blocks together into a quilt top. Skills covered will include trimming the blocks to size, pressing seams, quilt block layout, and assembling the quilt top. We will discuss options for finishing the quilt, but we will not be applying a backing to the quilt in this session.

Youth classes are open to students age 7 - 13. Parents/caregivers should check-in their child with staff upon arrival, but are not required to stay onsite for the duration of class.

Supplies Needed:

• We will be assembling twelve quilt blocks sizes 12.5" square each. Quilt blocks made in After School Sewing Club will fit the requirement, and can be supplemented with fabric pieces cut 12.5" x 12.5".
  
  • For example, if you attended four After School Sewing Club sessions in 2023, you will have four pieced quilt blocks, and will need to purchase and cut fabric for the other eight blocks before class.
  • Confused? Don't worry! Just talk to Sarah at the next After School Sewing Club session for clarification :)
• Tools, thread, and sewing machines will be provided.
  
  

Class Policies & COVID procedures:

Masks are required for all people at all times while inside Craft Habit, regardless of age or vaccination status, for the safety of our community and staff.

This class requires a minimum of 4 students enrolled, with a maximum of 6. Craft Habit will notify students at least 24 hours in advance if a class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Students will be fully refunded for any classes cancelled due to low enrollment.

Food and most beverages are not allowed during classes, due to safety concerns. You are welcome to bring water in a container that will not spill if knocked over. 

Class registrations are not refundable. If you cannot attend, you may find another person to take your place in a class. Please let us know their name in advance of the class starting.

Classes cancelled by Craft Habit WILL be refunded. We will do our best to reschedule classes, and we will refund class registration fees for any classes that we have to cancel for any reason.

To respect our teachers’ time, please arrive 5 minutes before scheduled class time unless advised otherwise. Late arrivals may miss important information and may not be able to catch up to the class. We cannot issue refunds for late arrivals. Please shop for your class materials in advance!
