Craft Habit Camp Instructors

Pay rate: $18/hour

Hours: vary month-to-month. Camp shifts are 9am - 1pm, 9am - 4pm, or 1pm - 4pm.

Over the past few years, Craft Habit has built a fun, creative, and thriving camp program. Our program has grown, so we are looking for additional Camp Instructors to come aboard and teach camp throughout the year!
Our priority for hiring is to find instructors who are experienced and comfortable working with kids and families, with an aptitude for crafts. Experienced & familiarity with many crafts is desirable, but we are more concerned that you come to us with skills to foster an encouraging and welcoming environment for our campers.

This position involves working directly with elementary and middle-school aged students, other camp instructors, and teenage Junior Counselors. We currently have a roster of sewing camps, art camps, and craft camps. Camp Instructors will have the opportunity to develop projects and curriculum as well.

 Requirements:

- Comfort and enthusiasm working with students ages 6 - 16. Experience teaching in camps, after-school programs, early education, or elementary education preferred.

- Aptitude for learning new crafts. Experience and comfort with sewing machines is recommended.

- Ability to direct Junior Counselors in their capacity as classroom helpers.

- Ability to commit to a schedule in advance. We open registration for our camps many months in advance, and will need to know your availability at least 6 months in advance of
  camp dates.

- Criminal background check required upon hire

  • 9:15am to 10:30am - First craft project of the day

  • 10:30am to 11:00am - Snack and movement break. This is our only snack break during regular camp hours, so pack a big snack to make it through to 1pm! For weeklong camps, aftercare can be booked for the full week in advance, or on a daily basis during the week of camp. Exception: aftercare will be canceled if fewer than 4 campers have booked in advance.

  • 1:00pm to 2:00pm - Lunch and outdoor play. Aftercare campers should bring a packed lunch and extra snack, along with their water bottle and morning snack. After eating, campers have the choice to spend the remainder of the hour playing physical games, play board games or card games, or may read a book brought from home.

  • 3:30 to 4:00pm - Clean up, last snack & outdoor play, devices, books & board games optional. Aftercare ends at 4pm.
